We welcome our new members Hilary and Kil-Wan.
Hilary is a 2nd year undergraduate chemical engineering major here at USC. She joins us as a fellow of the Center of Undergraduate Research in Viterbi Engineering (CURVE). She will be engaged in research endeavors related bio-cementation of sands using enzymes and bacteria along with waste products such as Urea. The bio-cementation method is an innovative mitigation method for ground improvement, environmental contaminant containment/filtering, and the development of construction material.
Kil-Wan is a postdoctoral scholar with one year of post-PhD experience from UC Berkeley. He received his doctoral degree from Korea Advance Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST). He will be investigating analytical and numerical modeling of Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction under liquefaction for uncemented and cemented sands.
