Dr. Nweke was invited to give a presentation on his work related to “Sedimentary Basin Effects in Ground Motions from Empirical Models and Simulation Platforms” as part of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Science Center Seminar on September 30th, 2020. The USGS is the federal entity tasked with developing the national hazard maps that serves as the seismic demand reference for the building codes in the United States (ASCE 7-16 and the 2019 California Building Code). The research conducted by Dr. Nweke is incorporated into the current version of the national hazard maps and will be fully integrated in the subsequent versions (2023).
